Home and Community Education

Door County Association for Home & Community Education is a nonprofit educational organization comprised of member clubs throughout the county.  Clubs meet on a monthly basis to learn from the educational programs, work on service projects and enhance an individual’s home life.

Membership:  Membership is open through contact a neighboring club or individual membership.   Contact the Door County Extension Office for more information at 920-746-2260.  Bi-monthly newsletters are provided to all paid members.
International:  Club members collect school supplies to be donated to the Nicaragua Partners of America Project as well as supplies for the Sewing and Baking Learning Project.
Education:  Within the guidelines of UW-Madison Division of Extension, members are provided with educational programs to enhance the quality of life in their homes and community.  Past programs included Growing Lavender, Mexican Cooking, Tours of interest such as Emergency Services and the Peninsular Agricultural Research Station, trends in new cooking methods, and making pasta.
Service:  These are a sample of the programs/projects we do.  Brat frys are conducted at a local business to raise funds for community projects; volunteers read at elementary schools through the Wisconsin Bookworms Program and provide the students with books and book bags; community vegetable gardens are managed, sewing projects support the elderly in nursing homes and hospital and underprivileged women in sister countries; and donations to food pantries.
